8 | SPARKL ING WINE ADVERT I S ING PROMOT ION 30 J UNE 2022 LA GIOIOSA ET AMOROSA MEET THE PRODUCER In the heart of Prosecco country, the province of Treviso in northeast Italy has an ancient saying, “marca gioiosa et amorosa”. It means “march with joy and love” and it highlights the sociable spirit of the local people. It’s a sentiment that underlines the values of the Moretti Polegato winemaking family (left), as well as lending its name to their range of sparkling wines. Alongside celebrating the region’s heritage, the family is keen to embrace innovation. Five years ago, they launched La Gioiosa for Life, a project that supports their commitment to sustainability. Practices include using hydropower from a canal on the estate to generate 20% of their electricity, and gaining the globally recognised ‘Biodiversity Friend’ certification for their vineyards. “La Gioiosa has always been about caring for the environment, respecting nature from the vineyards all the way to the shelves in store,” says Giancarlo Moretti Polegato. “La Gioiosa for Life is our new philosophy, for our customers, team members, suppliers and everyone involved with the company.” This summer, look out for a special limited edition of La Gioiosa Prosecco Rose Millesimato. With a label created by British designer Yvonne Ellen, it’s the perfect celebratory choice for this Jubilee year. AND I F YOU WANT P INK . . . How to keep it cool Because no one wants to be sipping warm fizz …there are lots to choose from. Surely there’s nothing better on a hot day than a chilled glass of something pale pink and oh-so interesting. Try these for starters Getting the temperature right is key. Sparkling wine should be served at 8-10°C – any colder and you risk losing some of the delicate aromas and numbing your tastebuds. This should take around two to three hours in the fridge, or half an hour in an ice bucket. In a hurry? Adding cold water to the ice in your bucket speeds up the process, as it ensures the whole surface area of the bottle is in direct contact with the cold. Chilling äzz also helps reduce pressure in the bottle, making it easier to open, so it’s a win-win. Mirabeau La Folie Rosé Offer £11.24/75cl (was £14.99) (bin 729938) The Cronk family moved from the UK to Provence to start a new life and, 10 years on, they’ve created a whole family of wines, including this brilliant pink sparkler.
